About the Online Library Catalog
The online catalog is the quickest and easiest way to search for, find, and print bibliographies of all available materials from the Resource Library. The online catalog is in “real time”; this means that you will be able to search everything that is currently contained in the Rape Prevention Resource Library as it is added. The print catalog only includes items up until a specific date.
The online catalog has a variety of helpful search options including; keyword, author, title, and subject. Once you have clicked the link to the Online Library Catalog, simply enter a keyword or keywords to start your search. You may also choose the advanced search option to have more expanded searching capabilities.
From your list of search results, you may create a list by adding items from your results to your "My List" page. You do this by clicking on the "Add to List" button next to any item (or by using the "Select All")
For Example:
Enter a keyword into the box and click "search". You may also search by title, author or subject by changing the field below the search box to whichever field you want to search by.
You may also choose to find material by browsing database terms by selecting "Browse" instead of search.
About the Print Catalog
The print catalog is divided into main sections:
- Materials by title (alphabetical by material type)
- Materials indexed by subject (cross-referenced and alphabetical by material type).
Materials by Title
This section of the catalog has several subsections divided by material type: articles, books, curricula, dissertations, reference, and videos. Therefore, you can use the title listing to look for a specific title or to look for all of the titles we have in a particular material type. This section also includes the full description or summary of the items listed (where available).
For Example:
If you are looking to see if the Rape Prevention Resource Center Library has a specific book or video, simply click the appropriate material type in the titles listings and look it up alphabetically by title. For example, if you are looking for the video entitled “Rape Is…”, click to the “Videos by Title” section of the catalog and look for titles beginning with the letter “R”.
If you want to find out generally what materials the library has to offer you can browse our holdings by material type. For example, you can find out what curricula the library has by clicking “Curricula by Title” and reviewing the alphabetical listings. The same is true for articles, books, dissertations, reference materials and videos.
Materials Indexed by Subject
If you are looking for materials on a specific topic, please refer to the Library Subject Listings. You can then browse for materials by clicking on the appropriate subject and then finding materials listed first by material type (i.e. article, book, curricula, etc) and then alphabetically by title.
For Example:
If you are looking for materials held by the library on the topic of “Bullying”, you would simply click on that subject heading. All articles, books, dissertations, reference materials, and videos pertaining to that topic will be listed. Each individual topic area has been separated into its own file. You can download or print out any of these sections for your convenience. If you would like additional information on the titles you see in the subject listing, you can look up further information on these items by going to the “Printed Library Catalog” section and finding the titles you are interested in.
