Regional trainings enhance preventionMarch 17, 2011 0 comments
Last week we held the first of the regional trainings Enhancing our Primary Prevention Efforts: Intergenerational Partnerships, Engaging Youth and Social Change in beautiful Mariposa, California.
Here are of the participants commenting on how valuable they found this training:
I loved thinking about how to integrate the principles of intergenerational organizations into sexual violence, dating violence and domestic violence prevention:
Intergenerational organizations are groups that link elder, adults and youth in a common cause. Young people and adults both have roles in the organizations projects, campaigns and decision making. Often they are community-based organizations. Partly because of their focus on empowering all community members, many intergenerational organizations have a strong commitment to young people;s leadership and leadership development.
I encourage California prevention practitioners to join one of the upcoming regional trainings in your area. Next up is Klamath (Del Norte County) on March 28 and Oakland on March 31. In May and June there will be sessions in San Luis Obispo, Sacramento and Southern California.
