16 Songs About Ending Violence Against Women

The Pixel Project is celebrating 16 Days of Activism to End Gender Violence with a selection of 16 Songs About Violence Against Women (and Staying Strong and Positive). The selection of songs emphasize women being empowered. Examples include Ani DiFranco’s The Story, RESPECT by Aretha Franklin, Pink’s 18 Wheeler, Fighter by Christina Aguilera, and twelve more. (Click here for the full post.)

I am glad to go beyond listing songs that are about violence against women (though we have a great list of songs and movies on the PreventConnect wiki.) We need more songs (and plays and poems) about taking a stand to stop violence and rape.

What songs inspire you in efforts to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault?

I’ll only list 1 song for now….Goyte – Someone I use to know. I true comment on how men see a relationship that they’ve destroyed and then lament about a woman treating them bad when it’s over.
