Opening Keynote:

Neil Irvin, Director of Community Education

Men Can Stop Rape

Neil Irvin is Men Can Stop Rape's Director of Community Education. He conducts awareness-to-action workshops with Washington D.C.-area high school and college-age youth, and facilitates Men of Strength Clubs and Community Strength Projects with male youth.  For the past six years, Neil has worked for Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene at the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents.  He is trained in group dynamics and facilitation, along with crisis intervention and one-to-one counseling.  His experience covers all ages and genders, though the majority of his training and work has focused on high school boys.  In addition, Neil has worked for the Montgomery County Recreation Department and the Y.W.C.A., providing age-appropriate activities for students

Tiombe Preston, M.S., MFT

"Dismantling Oppression to End Sexual Violence"

Tiombe Preston is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 12 years experience as a feminist therapist, educator, and activist. As the owner of a private practice and consulting business, she provides individual and group therapy, consultation on curriculum and program development, clinical supervision, anti-oppression/diversity training, clinical training, and speaking engagements for social services, universities, youth programs, crisis services, and counselor/mentor certification courses. Her specializations include feminist therapy, sexual and domestic violence, advocacy for people with disabilities, communities of color, and other anti-oppression work. She provides many of these services as Clinical Coordinator for the YWCA Sexual Assault Crisis Services in Compton. She is also the Program Manager for the California Black Women’s Health Project where she directs projects to end health disparities for Black women and girls in California and manages a statewide Advocate Training Program that trains health policy activists and educators, on issues including health, mental health, reproductive justice, anti- sexual and domestic violence, and public policy initiatives. She is a Core Faculty member of the California Victim Assistance Academy at CSU Fresno and teaches part time in the Master’s degree in Counseling program at CSU Long Beach.
